Capuccino on the Cheap

Ahh, the slightly sweet taste of capuccino in the morning! I had been feeling guilty of late, every time I craved a decaf honey latte (yes, they make such a thing) from Shoes or Starbucks. I cringed at spending the $3 or $4 it cost to indulge, especially since I never "travel" (to do errands) alone. If I indulge then I indulge times three or four, so there goes $12 to $16 just for a little pleasure in a cup. The key thing about this machine that makes it worthwhile for me is that it froths your drinks to make coffee-shop quality drinks!

I found the answer to my dilemma at Bed, Bath & Beyond for only $29.95. After preparing ten lattes, cappucinos, or steamers, I have paid for my sweet little machine, called the Cocoa Latte. This little gem comes complete with recipes that will rock your pre-breakfast socks!

Here's the recipe for the cup of (cheap) indulgence pictured above:

Cappuccino Royale

1 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup water
1 heaping tsp. instant coffee
1/2 tsp. sugar
whipping cream
nutmeg or cinnamon

Add ingredients to the Cocoa Latte maker and press the "on" switch. Wait for the machine to automatically shut off. Dispense into drink mug and top with whipped cream and sprinkle ground nutmeg or cinnamon on top.

You can also garnish with a think wafer or add other flavors such as vanilla, mint, rum, or almond.

Oh, what a super cool machine. I have to check it out -- but I think they closed all the Bed, Bath & Beyond stores in our area - *sigh*
